FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
March 15, 2006
Time to Renew Your Mississippi Sportsman License

JACKSON - In years past, if you wanted to renew your
Sportsman License, you had to fill out the renewal
form and mail it in, or come by the Jackson office of
the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and
Parks (MDWFP) and fill out the form there. But this
year, renewing your license just got easier.
According to MDWFP officials, current Sportsman
License holders should begin receiving renewal notices
starting March 15. The renewal notice will be a postcard
with the MDWFP agency logo on it.
In addition to filling out renewal cards, those
wishing to renew can now take advantage of three new
ways.
Renewals can now be made at all license agent
locations. You can also renew your license over the
phone by calling 1-800-5GO-HUNT. Another convenient way
to renew is just by logging on to www.mdwfp.com and
following the links.

During the renewal period, only these privileges can
be added to your Sportsman License:
- 129-Saltwater Fishing License
- 107-Wildlife Management Are User Permit
- 160-State Waterfowl Stamp
Mississippi's new Sportsman License for 2006-07 will
again feature one of Mississippi's most endearing
species, the wood duck. This colorful native waterfowl
graced the license previously in 1996 and makes a return
for the tenth anniversary of the popular license.
The "woodie" drake was photographed by Joe Mac
Hudspeth, Jr. of Brandon, whose work has been featured
on the license since its inception.
Officials say the Sportsman License print series has
sold well in the past and is a collector's item. A
portion of the sale of the prints is returned to the
Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks for
wildlife management.
Prints can be obtained by calling toll-free
1-800-831-6992, or 601-992-0752 in the Jackson area. Or,
visit Hudspeth's web site at
www.southernfocus.com.
